Before Ceilings & Walls Are Closed Up

Put outlets, routes and equipment conditions on the same plan first.

Networks, CCTV and access control may look like three separate systems, but in practice they share rack space, networks, PoE, power, cable routes and management locations. Organizing these relationships early reduces the risk of exposed cabling added later, misplaced outlets, insufficient rack space or equipment that cannot be installed.

Structured Network Cabling

Plan copper or fibre options based on actual distance, equipment, bandwidth and environmental requirements, then complete cable installation, faceplates, modules, patch-panel termination, labeling and agreed testing. Specifications such as Cat6, Cat6A or fibre are determined by the solution and site conditions.

Rack & Patch-Cabling Organization

Plan rack location, size, patch panels, cable management, switches, UPS and equipment space. Existing racks can also be inventoried for ports, labels and cabling before defining the scope for reorganization or rebuilding.

CCTV

Based on viewing requirements for entrances, corridors, cashier areas or designated zones, assess camera locations, viewing angles, night conditions, network, PoE, recording equipment, storage and authorized viewing. Retention periods and access permissions are confirmed by the customer according to operational and privacy requirements.

Access Control Systems

Plan card readers, electronic locks, exit buttons, controllers and management methods according to the door, frame, lock, direction of travel and user flow. Fire escape, property-management and statutory requirements must be confirmed by the relevant stakeholders.

Renovation & Multi-Party Coordination

Depending on the project, AlphGa can coordinate outlet locations and work sequencing with designers, renovation contractors, electrical contractors, property management, internet service providers and IT equipment vendors. Drawing versions, site meetings and the number of change confirmations should be stated in the quotation.

Confirm locations before installation, then verify each outlet after completion.

STEP 01

On-Site Survey & Information Collection

Inspect floor plan, ceiling, walls, racks, power, existing cabling, doors and construction restrictions; record users, equipment and the planned site-access date.

STEP 02

Outlet, Route & Equipment Plan

Mark data outlets, access points, cameras, access control and rack relationships on the floor plan or outlet schedule, and list specifications, quantities, prerequisite work and exclusions.

STEP 03

Installation, Termination & Labeling

Install according to the approved revision. If on-site conditions differ from the drawings, record the changed location, impact and approver.

STEP 04

Configuration, Testing & Acceptance

Test cabling, video, recording, access-control operation or network connectivity point by point according to each system, and record outstanding items and dependencies on other contractors.

STEP 05

Documentation & Access Handover

Deliver the agreed outlet schedule, equipment list, test records, administrative accounts or configuration backups, and explain the contact method for warranty, management and future changes.

Verify each item using real usage scenarios.

Network Cabling

Verify outlet numbers against rack ports, faceplate and patch-panel labels, cabling test results, and connectivity of the specified device at each outlet.

CCTV

Verify camera angles, obstructions, day/night images, time settings, recording, search, export, storage estimates and viewing-account permissions.

Access Control

Verify card reading, exit buttons, lock and controller operation, and the addition, deactivation and event review of users or cards. Responsibility for power-loss, fire-system integration or property-management testing will be stated separately.

Shared deliverables can include the equipment list, outlet drawings, test results, known limitations, warranty information, account handover and outstanding-items list; whether each item is included should be stated in the quotation.

On-Site Engineering Depends on Multiple Parties

List approvers, prerequisite work and construction restrictions in advance.

The customer or project lead generally needs to provide site-use requirements, the latest drawings, property-management and construction rules, permitted work hours, access arrangements, electrical locations, fire-safety or door-lock requirements, and CCTV access and retention policies. If any part of the project must be handled by licensed contractors, property management or other consultants, it should be stated separately in the quotation and schedule.

Site Surveys, Retaining Equipment & Work Hours

Yes. Please provide the location, number of outlets, rack location, site photos and available work hours. AlphGa will check whether existing routes and patch panels can be used, and the quotation will state the survey, installation and testing items.

Please provide the brand, model, controller or recording equipment, administrative access, network and warranty information. Compatible equipment that is still supported can be incorporated into the new system. Items without administrative access, no longer supported or incompatible will be listed with replacement recommendations.

Work hours can be proposed during the survey and quotation stage. The quotation will specify the work sequence and costs based on property access, lifts, noise restrictions, floor location and staffing requirements.

Cabling, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi and server configuration can be coordinated within the same project, but they are different types of work. The quotation will separately list equipment supply, network configuration, cabling tests and system handover so the customer can verify what is included.
